The possibilities of 3D printing are only limited by the imagination. Now Neiman Marcus is offering two items from Shapeways, the 3D marketplace, available in metal finishes:
Monogrammed Silver Heart Pendant Necklace – A twist on a classic pendant, this is made by Shapeways’ 3D printing technology and polished by hand. This pendant was the winning entry in a recent Shapeways design contest, won by Roger Pearce. Each pendant can be customized with initials on the floating heart.
Orb Stainless Steel Sculpture – This sculpture, which makes a fine paperweight, was created by an established designer, Bathsheba Grossman. It too is brought to life by Shapeways’ 3D printing.
Once an order is placed through NeimanMarcus.com, each piece will then be printed and shipped from Shapeways’ Long Island City factory. Customers will receive their custom orders within three weeks.
“3D printing technology opens up a whole new world of possibilities for beautiful, on-demand gifts. While what we are making available this season is just one of millions of such possibilities, we could think of no better partner to work with on our first foray into this space than Shapeways, the leader in 3D printing.” said Gerald Barnes, chief merchant for NM online.
The limited-edition items are available for purchase online through Friday, November 15, 2013.
