“Here’s to another season of eager and excited American talent vying for the coveted CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund,” said an enthusiast Ken Downing, Neiman Marcus Senior VP/Fashion Director and CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund committee member. This year’’s class of emerging designers/co-designers include: Paul Andrew; Brett Heyman of Edie Parker, Eva Zuckerman of Eva Fehren; Gigi Burris of Gigi Burris Millinery; Wes Gordon; Natalie Levy and Grant Krajecki of Grey Ant; Orley’s Matt Orley, Alex Orley, and Samantha Florence; Ryan Roche; Daniel Corrigan and Jake Sargent of Simon Miller; and Tanya Taylor.
The winner will join an elite group of alumni that includes Proenza Schouler, Derek Lam, Thakoon Panichgul, Phillip Lim, and Alexander Wang. And besides major name recognition, the title earns the winner a $300,000 cash prize (that beats a crown and satin sash any day). And for two runners-up, they each go home with a $100,000 prize.
But you’ll have wait until Nov. 3, when the winners are announced at the gala dinner. Until then, each finalist will meet with the esteemed panel of committee members, including Anna Wintour, CFDA CEO Steven Kolb, Diane von Furstenberg, Rag & Bone’s David Neville, and Reed. Finalists will also participate in a design challenge, as well as a fashion show at L.A.’s Chateau Marmont in October.
Now there’s even more to look forward to this fall than trotting out your new, fringed Western booties. Catch The Fashion Fund series, which documents the process from start to finish, on Ovation TV in November.
