What are your summer style essentials? We all love sunny dresses and denim cutoffs, but only a few girls can make those basics look fresh and cool on a day-to-day basis. Alicia Lund of Cheetah is the New Black is an expert at making statement pieces her neutrals, which is why we asked her to compile a summer style guide along with PayPal, and we love what she put together. The San Francisco-based gal is definitely no stranger to smart Northern California layering, and she does the high-low look to perfection. This time she paired Balenciaga glove sandals with Vince leather shorts, an Iro bomber jacket and a black Saint Laurent crossbody bag. We are definitely taking her cue.
NM: Tell us about your summer style essentials.
AL: A classic pair of aviators, a little white dress, denim cutoffs and boyfriend jeans (always), a light-colored leather jacket and booties. I’m in San Francisco where it’s cooler all the time, so a leather jacket is a year-round necessity for me.
NM: A designer that you just recently started wearing and loved?
AL: I was recently introduced to Anine Bing and want to own every single piece from her line.
NM: Your go-to handbag and shoes for summer?
AL: Handbag – Cleobella fringe bag, and I’m lusting after the Proenza Schouler fringed bag for fall. Shoes – Isabel Marant and Anine Bing boots.
NM: Your handbag essentials around the city?
AL: I always have lip gloss, my ear buds, pen and notepad, and trail mix or a Kind bar.
NM: Where do you find style inspiration?
AL: Especially when traveling (I love to see what girls are wearing in various cities)
NM: What’s your favorite photo app filter?
AL: VSCO Cam F2
NM: Where could we find you on a Saturday afternoon?
AL: Probably on a hike or at the park with my guy.
NM: Tell us about your summer beauty look.
AL: Super simple! I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so I use a light foundation or tinted moisturizer with SPF and Nars blush. I always darken my eyebrows, but rarely wear eye makeup. If I’m going out, I’ll add mascara and a smudge of dark eyeliner. It’s rare for me to go for eye shadow, so if I do, you really know it’s a special occasion.
NM: What’s your latest social media/tech obsession?
AL: My friends are super tech-savvy, so they’re constantly keeping me in the know. One recently launched a new very visual, content-sharing app, Pixora.
