Neiman Marcus: Neiman Marcus Make Some Noise® celebrates bold women with bold voices who are leading the way forward in technology, fashion, film, music, food, business, and art. What does making noise mean to you?
Camille Styles: Making noise means being unafraid to disrupt the status quo. It’s about being forward thinking and brave enough to follow your instincts.
NM: What woman inspires you? Why?
CS: I’m really inspired by Christy Turlington and her nonprofit organization Every Mother Counts. She identified a huge need—health care for pregnant mothers in developing countries—then used her platform to create real lasting change that has saved thousands of mothers’ and children’s lives around the world.
NM: In your unique way, how do you feel like you’re making an impact on the world?
CS: I believe that every moment in life offers an opportunity to create and explore, and my site Camille Styles allows me to inspire women to embrace those opportunities. My team and I invite some of the most brilliant and wise women to share advice that helps our readers become their happiest, healthiest, and most energetic selves.
NM: What advice would you offer young women starting off in your industry?
CS: Stay true to yourself and use the qualities that make you most unique to define your inimitable personal brand. When you get out there and show the world the very best version of YOU, they’ll sit up and take notice!
NM: Do you have a motto?
CS: As Coco Chanel said, “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.”
NM: How do you find balance in your busy life?
CS: I try to keep my eye on the big goals and prioritize the things that will keep me healthy and happy, like time with my family, exercise, and cooking healthy meals. When life gets crazy, I schedule them on my calendar and treat them like a business meeting—meaning I don’t skip them!
NM: Your idea of the perfect day?
CS: Swimming and grilling pizzas in my backyard full of family and friends. Really, anywhere that there’s plenty of sunshine, great food, and people I love is my total happy place.
NM: Describe your closet in three words?
CS: Understated and always evolving.
NM: What one thing do you do every day?
CS: I’m a creature of habit so there are tons of things that I do every day! Eating vegetables is high on the list though.
NM: What are the most important characteristics of a successful woman?
CS: Confident, happy, kind, and generous.
NM: Drink of choice?
CS: Coffee and green juice in equal measure.
NM: What are you most proud of?
CS: I am so thankful that I love my job, but nothing brings me joy and makes me feel proud like my kids Phoebe and Henry.
NM: Currently reading?
CS: An incredible novel, Fates and Furies.
NM: Currently listening to?
CS: I’ve only recently become a podcast junkie, so I have so many in my queue: Women of the Hour, The Longest Shortest Time, and The Art of Charm are current favorites.
NM: Most recent splurge?
CS: Chloé bag—I never feel guilty about splurging on great bags, thanks to the cost-per-wear principle.
NM: Your coffee order: uncomplicated or a lesson in Italian?
CS: Americano with steamed almond milk.
NM: What’s the latest app you downloaded?
CS: A Color Story—it’s awesome for quickly editing photos for Instagram.
