At the November 3 awards gala in New York, NM fave Paul Andrew took home the coveted award for his expressive line of women’s shoes. “I was ecstatic to hear that Paul won,” says Ladies Shoes VP Julee Butler of the British-born, US-based newcomer. “He is so deserving of this award. When I first met him, I was so impressed with his passion and attention to detail. He’s such a genuinely nice person.”
Women’s wear designer Ryan Roche and Eva Fehren jewelry creator Eve Zuckerman were recognized as runners-up. Fellow finalists included Brett Heyman of yummy handbag line Edie Parker; Tanya Taylor; Gigi Burris of Gigi Burris Millinery; Wes Gordon; Daniel Corrigan and Jake Sargent of Simon Miller; Grant Krajecki and Natalie Levy of Grey Ant; and Mathew Orley, Alex Orley, and Samantha Orley of Orley.
Stella McCartney charmed as keynote speaker at the 11th annual event, held this year at Manhattan’s Spring Studios. McCartney received a witty introduction from comedian/talk show host Seth Meyers.
NM’s own Ken Downing joined Diane von Furstenberg, Anna Wintour, Andrew Rosen, CFDA CEO Steven Kolb, Rag & Bone’s David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, Jenna Lyons, Jeffrey Kalinsky, Reed Krakoff and Mark Holgate on the judging panel. Watch for the heavy-hitters on the Ovation series.
