Trina Turk in Palm Springs

The annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival starts today in Indio, California, and we couldn’t be more excited to escape the city for the sun-soaked desert. We’re looking forward to hearing musicians Lorde, Lana Del Rey, Ellie Goulding and Haim perform live, not to mention partying with some of our favorite fashion friends—Opening Ceremony, Cynthia Vincent, Harper’s Bazaar and Elyse Walker. Los Angeles–based designer Trina Turk has a home in Palm Springs (nearby the famed music fest) and has been fortunate enough to spend several weekends in the desert, which is why we asked her for the in and outs of Palm Springs.

“There is something about that turn off the freeway onto highway 111 that just instantly puts you in a relaxed state of mind. The combination of the weather, the desert landscape, the architecture and the lifestyle makes it easy to adopt a carefree attitude and just enjoy the days,” says Turk.
