Inspired: Carey Mulligan’s Met Gala Beauty Look
May 11, 2015
The 2015 Met Gala might be behind us, but there’s much to be said about the fashion and the beauty we saw on the red carpet. Vogue’s May cover girl, actress Carey Mulligan, radiated elegance and sophistication in her black Balenciaga gown and her timeless beauty look. We loved her lacquered burgundy lips and clean skin , a subtle nod to The Costume Institute exhibit “China : Through the Looking Glass.” Makeup artist Gerogie Eisdell reveals the recipe for Mulligan’s stunning beauty look, which he conceived using Kiehl’s skincare and Tom Ford beauty. “Carey’s look for the Met Ball was all about enhancing her natural beauty. I wanted her skin to glow but then I wanted a little drama on her lips,” explained Eisdell. Time to take those notepads out!
Prepare the skin with Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate and moisturize with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream Intense Hydration, and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado for the eyes. Apply Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector for a flawless makeup base.
To even out the skin, apply Kiehl’s Skin Tone Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream. Tom Ford’s Illuminating Highlight Pen is a great tool to brighten underneath the eye, and Tom Ford’s Cheek Color in Frantic Pink adds a natural flush to cheeks. Powder really lightly, just on the high points of your face with La Mer’s The Powder.
Enhance your brows with Tom Ford’s Brow Sculptor (Carey’s in Taupe). Add a wash of translucent powder to even out the eye area, and use Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Cocoa Mirage in the crease of the eye to create a natural contour to the eye. Finish the eye with YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Mascara in Black to add fullness to your natural lashes, keeping them defined and spidery.
Finished off the look with Tom Ford’s Matte Lip in Velvet Cherry, Eisdell’s favorite lip color at the moment.
