A fashion personality who has touched hundreds of men and women with her words, personal style and attitude is certainly Diana Vreeland. As Vogue editor-in-chief in the 1960s, she embodied the energy of the decade with revolutionizing images. We also like to think of her as a blogger, thanks to the modern ideas expressed periodically via her “Why Don’t You?” column in Harper’s Bazaar, where she worked as fashion editor before Vogue.

Fast-forward to 2011, Lisa Immordino Vreeland, married to Mrs. Vreeland’s grandson Alexander Vreeland, directed the documentary “Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel,” introducing the fashion icon to a new generation. It’s fair to say that people in their twenties adore her as much now as those who knew her. Alexander Vreeland now celebrates the legacy of his grandmother by launching the Diana Vreeland Parfums collection this August. This collection is exclusive to Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman in the U.S., and we couldn’t be more excited to experience it.

With its striking flacons reminiscent of Art Deco glass, the collection is presented in Vreeland’s signature lacquer red – all meant to represent different facets of her personality. The five distinct fragrances are named after some of her notable sayings. Does “perfectly marvelous” ring a bell?

The scents are strong, uplifting and empowering: Perfectly Marvelous, a jasmine-based fragrance with notes of red sandalwood pimento; Simply Divine, an ode to the beauty of the tuberose flower; Absolutely Vital, a woodier scent with its base of Indian sandalwood and Turkish rose base; Extravagance Russe, a mystical amber fragrance with vanilla bourbon and musk notes; and Outrageously Vibrant, as its name says, a daring, fruity perfume that combines a rose bouquet and patchouli with a twist of crème de cassis. You choose – there’s a scent for every mood.

Alexander Vreeland describes his grandmother first and foremost as a storyteller. During the preview of the collection, he explained that stories form the basis of a great fragrance business. “You have that duality of great vision, great ideas, and the dream of getting things done,” he elaborated.

Her legacy is mirrored in the collection that carries her name, and we can’t wait for the collection to expand in 2015. Talk about getting what you want before even knowing you wanted it!
