10 Minutes with: Diane von Furstenberg
October 22, 2014
The celebration of the wrap dress is on its way to Dallas. That’s right, Diane von Furstenberg’s iconic wrap dress has had a 40th-anniversary year to remember, starting with an exhibition in Los Angeles’ Wilshire May Company Building, followed by a wrap dress-clad fall 2014 collection and many fetes across the world. With the renowned designer’s upcoming visit to Texas (Diane will be at NM NorthPark Wednesday, October 22, from 6 to 8 p.m.), we couldn’t wait to ask about her fall essentials, her favorite NM memories and the women who inspire her the most.
See what Diane had to say below, and don’t miss the chance to meet her in person this Wednesday in Dallas. There will be wrap dresses galore featuring iconic DVF prints and much more.
NM: What’s your favorite memory of Neiman Marcus?
DVF: My favorite memory of Neiman Marcus is the extraordinary things you could buy in their Christmas catalog. I remember one year you could even buy an elephant!
NM: What makes a woman strong and beautiful?
NM: You have inspired – and continue to inspire – women around the world every day. Who inspires you?
DVF: I have never met a woman who is not strong—they are all an inspiration to me.
NM: Name three DVF fall essentials.
DVF: The Joan Dress: I love a shift dress, and this one is so elegant with the embroidery and mesh detail.
The Jewel Wrap: In the Ballets Russes print, this wrap is divine. I love our new Amelia and Jewel wraps that have the fitted jersey top and the nice flared skirt that flatters the leg.
The Margot Jumpsuit: This silhouette is so easy to wear. Crepe flows very beautifully and feels good on the skin. Every woman should have a jumpsuit in her closet!
NM: What are you most looking forward to during your visit to Texas ?
DVF: Speaking at the first San Antonio Women in the World conference. It is amazing to hear what women are doing to change the world. I have been lucky to participate in this event in New York City, and I am thrilled that Tina Brown asked me to join in Texas as well.
