Fall has arrived at NM, but let’s be honest: the weather may not agree with us just yet. While we are all about gearing up for fall with the best chunky, hand-knit sweaters and year-round booties, one of trends that we are most excited about is global chic. What it entails is literally a mix of multicultural textures, prints and colors – think Africa meets the Old Wild West, meets South America and beyond – which will make for amazing Burberry Prorsum blanket coats once winter comes.
We definitely see global chic as a current summer trend among fashion insiders, who are sporting a super stylish mismatch of handmade mochila with zigzag patterned cover-ups, summer head scarfs, or a Carolina Herrera gingham maxi skirt with crocheted bikini top. We might not be in Croatia, Brazil or Morocco this summer, but that won’t stop us from taking some global chic hunting trips around the store.
Jessica Stein of Tuula Vintage is an expert on vacation dressing. From Bali to Barcelona, we love to follow her on around-the-world adventures, and she does the global chic look so well with a handwoven clutch, off-the-shoulders printed dress and flat, studded sandals.
Aimee’s trip to Morocco seems like the best match to her printed DVF wrap romper.
Jacey of Damsel in Dior always does effortlessly chic outfits with a variety of basics that include Hermès trench coats and Joe’s distressed skinny jeans. We love how she styles this printed Cynthia Vincent tea-length dress in her own global chic way.
This Texas girl is no stranger to Wild West influences. Jane of Sea of Shoes dons a global cowgirl look with an Isabel Marant printed mini dress, cowboy boots and vintage statement jewelry.
We love New York-based Danielle of We Wore What in this for Love & Lemons dress and vintage statement necklace. The outfit is cool and effortless for all downtown city gals.
We are aware that animal prints are a woman’s wardrobe staple, but Samantha of Could I Have That injects a Safari feeling to her Zimmermann tea-length dress with suede lace-up sandals, a metallic cuff and panama hat.
#NMinsider Nasiba Adilova is the epitome of global chic, if you think of a Russian girl living in Dallas and traveling year-round from St. Barts, to New York, and currently vacationing in Croatia. We love her beach look of a Missoni swimsuit and matchy knit coverup paired to a graphic mochila to enhance the multicultural feel.
Leandra Medine is no stranger to pioneering the coolest Man Repeller trends. This time is no different – she wears the CH Caroline Herrera blue gingham skirt with a crochet bikini top and a mix of statement accessories that blow us away.
