10:00 am – Peter Som, Spring 2014
The Peter Som show was packed with the who’s who of fashion bloggers. Bryan Boy, Susie Bubble, Natalie Joos, Olivia Palermo, Tina Craig and Garance Dore were just a few that I spotted front row. Craig of Bag Snob was sporting her new Manolo Blahnik BB pumps, and layers of Vita Fede rings adorned her fingers, wrapped around a Givenchy envelope clutch. All the while, Joos of Tales of Endearment donned a bold pineapple-print peplum and matching maxi skirt. Show goers looked fresh and wide-eyed for the first show of the day. Som’s Spring collection was inspired by surfing. Naturally, it was sporty, graphic and clean-lined. The palette was bold with blocks of crisp blue, white and black. At one point all three colors collided in a spectacular swirl pattern. Ken Downing, our fashion director, loved the play on men’s shirts.

11:00am – Kate Spade New York, Spring 2014
The moment I stepped into the Kate Spade New York presentation I felt like I was on vacation. As I moved through the collection, I imagined sunbathing in Capri, wandering the streets of Paris and driving through Monaco. All three inspired the collection’s color palette of black, white, lemon, geranium, bougainvillea, Giverny blue and French navy, not to mention the whimsical accessories – totes with sayings such as, “When life gives you lemons…” Ken called it “fun, feminine and flirty,” and noted that the LWD (little white dress) is everywhere. While walking out, I spotted the lovely Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam.

1:00pm – Jason Wu, Spring 2014
Karen Elson stunned in a shimmering-gold beaded halter dress for the opening of the Jason Wu Spring 2014 show. From this point on, Wu’s Spring theme of “deconstructed ease” was apparent. Easy lace slip dresses, thin silk sweaters, flat sandals and languid sparkling skirts floated down the runway.

5:00pm – Rag & Bone, Spring 2014

Slip dresses, overalls and oversized sweaters made their way down the Rag & Bone runway. The Nineties references felt fresh with lovely lilac accessories — cross-body bags and flatform sandals, not to mention the minimalist color palette of black, white and pale blues and pinks.
