A cofounder of Rebecca Taylor, where she spent two decades as CEO, BETH BUGDAYCAY is fulfilling the desire to explore her own creative vision with Foundrae. (The name nods to Bugdaycay’s love of found objects and her grandmother’s middle name, Rae.) Merging her diverse interests with arts and crafts and spiritual ideology, the New York–based designer offers a unique take on basics with graphic elements like fringe or colorful snakeskin. For spring, she plays with the idea of a layered oil painting transitioning into an unfinished watercolor. The arty result: easy dresses and separates reminiscent of summertime.

The appointment of Public School cofounders DAO-YI CHOW and MAXWELL OSBORNE as creative directors of DKNY made headlines in 2015. Charged with a total rebranding of the 32-year-old label, the award-winning duo promised to bring the urban-sophisticate attitude that’s made them a success. And my, they have delivered. The cool factor comes through in each tailored piece. Asymmetric hems and manipulated shirttails lend an edge to wardrobe essentials influenced by men’s suiting and white shirting, all while staying true to the essence of the DKNY brand.
