Chloé Carlina by Aasha Ramdeen
July 10, 2015
It’s summer, so what better topic to talk about than sunglasses? This week we are celebrating the lovely Chloé Carlina sunnies—the ones favored by modern swans all over the world from Paris to Los Angeles. These cool, Bohemian frames being feted at NM Beverly Hills on Saturday, July 11, where local illustrator Aasha Ramdeen will paint a personalized sketch of the stylish gals who purchase their own pair of ombré lens Carlinas. We’re crushing on Ramdeen’s gorgeous illustrations, so we had to get to know her better.
If you happen to be a South Cal gal with a thing for collecting sunglasses (and who isn’t?), join us this Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm At NM Beverly Hills.
Hometown: D’Abadie, Trinidad and Tobago
Home Now: Los Angeles, California
How long have you been illustrating? 15 years
How would you describe the #ChloeGIRLS? They’re sophisticated, feminine and chic. They’re also modern with a subtle nod to the Bohemian. There is an effortless cool about the Chloé girl.
Muse: To be honest, I’m not necessarily moved visually by a single person; I love illustrating everything fashion, from models to shoes to couture gowns. It has more to do with the lines of my subject—the more fluid and easily exaggerated, the better.
Never travel without: Makeup
Secret vice: Donuts and chocolate milkshakes. Separately, of course!
Listening to on repeat: “Bright” by Echosmith
Can’t live without: Laughter…and a great statement necklace (I like to think they complement each other).
Signature Scent: Gucci Guilty
Go-to cocktail: Amaretto Sour

Tell us about your summer plans: Paris! Spending this summer in France with my family, and cannot wait to be immersed in the culture and fashion.
Travel must-have: Pillow (and a window seat)
Last thing you bought at NM: Tom Ford eye defining pen
Sunday routine: No routine per se—though sleeping in is usually involved—just anything that keeps the day quiet and relaxing. It’s my one day to unwind.
Best advice: Do your best and leave the rest, ’twill all come right some day or night.
