Fashion Presentation and Luncheon at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Miami
January 19, 2015
For many of us, January means piling on layers of wool and cashmere. But to the women of Miami, the month’s mild temps translate to ideal conditions for bearing arms—no jacket required. On the social calendar, January signals the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden fashion show fundraiser, sponsored by Neiman Marcus Coral Gables. The forth-annual event, titled Splendor in the Garden, brought 350 guests to an outdoor tent erected on the garden’s lush grounds. There, guests clad in sundresses were treated to lunch and a runway show featuring the best of the Spring 2015 collections. Neiman Marcus Fashion Director Ken Downing delivered the season’s forecast, which included the New Bohemian as the featured fashion message. Models, wearing fishbone braids spiked with feathers, walked the runway in embroidered peasant blouses, maxidresses, flowy skirts, and fringe. Other important style cues included spice-market shades and a range of white, from stark to sandy shades.
