#NMweddings: Senior Merchandise Planner, Hailey Leigh
August 23, 2016
Classic elegance was the theme woven throughout NM Senior Merchandise Planner Hailey Leigh’s summer wedding. The bride and her mother made sure no detail was left unattended for the big day — as they spent a year planning for the dreamy ceremony. After getting engaged last year, the beautiful couple exchanged vows on June 4 at Highland Park Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas.
We had the pleasure of speaking with Hailey about her favorite moments, the dress, and her something borrowed.
Neiman Marcus: What was your inspiration for the wedding?
Hailey Leigh: I wanted every part of the wedding to be classic with a timeless, elegant touch — right down to the last details.
NM: How far in advance did you start planning your wedding?
HL: We got engaged Valentine’s Day — February 14, 2015. We reserved the church and the reception venue the following weekend, but didn’t start getting into the details until later that spring. I wanted to have a long engagement so we could enjoy our time together and not feel rushed during the planning process.
NM: Tell us about the dress, more so about the choosing and fitting process.
HL: I knew before I set my dress appointment that I wanted a fitted dress with interesting back detail. My mom, sisters, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law accompanied me to my bridal appointment at the Neiman Marcus Bridal Salon. At first glance, I didn’t see anything that caught my eye, so my sales associate Suzanne Wasem pulled several options for me based on the styles I liked. I ended up going with the second dress I tried on. I was in love with it from the moment Suzanne finished clasping it together and guided me toward the mirror in the salon. She chose the perfect cathedral length veil with lace detailing that matched my dress.
NM: What shoes and jewelry did you wear? Did you incorporate “something borrowed” into your wedding look?
HL: My wedding shoes were the Manolo Blahnik Chaos Pearl Sandals. The only jewelry I wore was a pair of diamond and tanzanite drop earrings, which functioned as both my something borrowed and my something blue!
NM: Tell us about your bridesmaids and their beautiful flower bouquets.
HL: My maid of honor was my sister Margaret. My four oldest and closest friends were my bridesmaids, and my house party included six girls that I have become friends with throughout different times in my life — childhood, college, and over the past few years. My two youngest sisters were my junior bridesmaids. The bridal bouquets consisted of white flowers combined with dark, lush greenery, and dusty pink roses matching the house party’s dresses.
NM: What were a few of your favorite moments from the reception?
HL: The reception turned out amazing down to the very last detail! I don’t think that we could have asked for the night to be any more perfect. One of my favorite moments took place right before the reception. Billy and I had some time together away from everyone while guests enjoyed cocktail hour. We were able to relax and take in the fact that we were now officially husband and wife. Another one of my favorite moments took place right after our first dance. My grandfather pulled me aside and asked me to dance. For several songs we were dancing just the two of us. He originally wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to make it to the wedding, so this was very special to me.
NM: Describe what you were feeling during your send off.
HL: I remember feeling an overpowering sense of love and excitement for both the departure on our Italian honeymoon the next day, as well as for the start of the rest of our life together.
Congratulations to the happy couple! Thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding story with us.
