10:00am – Victoria Beckham, Spring 2014
The interpretation of shapes and how to apply them both literally and conceptually was designer Victoria Beckham’s starting point for her Spring 2014 collection. Lines, waves and textured overlays were some of the masculine elements set against feminine fluid silhouettes. Beckham worked to convey a feeling of balance across the collection and it was the “boy and girl sensibilities” that were the key to her aesthetic. -KS

11:00am – Lela Rose, Spring 2014
Designer Lela Rose was inspired by Danish industrial designer Arne Jacobsen and mid-century modern furniture with its curvilinear shapes and quirky geometry. Wood grain lace, sheer tweed and speckled jacquard are just a few of the elements that add texture to understated silhouettes which are cut in and out. Rose attributes the space reversal to two of the most iconic furniture pieces of the 20th century – the Egg and Swan chairs. Light reflected blue, vivid pink and luminous citrine are accented by crisp white and tie together the numerous layers of color and texture. -KS

Noon – Derek Lam, Spring 2014
Magnified gingham, raffia accents, and guipure lace woven into netting were just a few of the unexpected elements that made this collection so intriguing. Derek’s forward-looking approach to American sportswear is consistently refreshing. -JS

1:00pm – DKNY, Spring 2014
The brand is celebrating 25 years, which you could sense in the way it updated the streetwear of the late Eighties with the athletic silhouettes of today. The collection was amply on trend with lots of white poplin shirt dressing, sleek scuba references, and “the colors of Jordan almonds,” as Ken Downing aptly puts it. Singer Rita Ora also walked the runway, adding to the excitement. -JS

3:00pm – Thakoon, Spring 2014
Thakoon Panichgul gave his Spring collection a dressed-up sensibility with satin, lace, white rhinestone embellishments, and dainty purses with string-of-pearl straps. But there was nothing traditional about this mix of textures and proportions. Most looks were styled with lace, over-the-knee boots. -JS

6:00pm – Edun, Spring 2014
New creative director Danielle Sherman has had an immediate impact on the collection founded by Bono and Ali Hewson. She raised the bar with woven leathers, tribal patterns and sophisticated proportions. Bono and Ali were joined in the front row by Christy Turlington, Trudie Styler, Helena Christensen and Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman. -JS

7:00pm – Zac Posen, Spring 2014
Pastels and sweet florals, exuberant ruffling and pleating all added up to
over-the-top romance. VIP guests Christina Hendricks, Leigh Lezark, Pat Cleveland and Kelly Osbourne were surely making mental notes for the red carpet. -JS

8:00pm – Opening Ceremony, Spring 2014
Guests enjoyed a happy hour among the shipping containers that define the Superpier event space, before entering a cavernous space. Why so big? Because about 20 different luxury cars rolled in, each carrying a model in the passenger’s seat. The collection’s auto references (seat belts straps and tire tracks) complemented its modernized, graphical Chinoiserie prints. Opening Ceremony sure knows how to amuse a young, downtown crowd. Even Justin Bieber stopped by. -JS
