Reporting live from New York Fashion Week.

11:00am Nanette Lepore
Nanette wanted to make a point in her Fall collection – starting with the fact that as a contemporary brand, all her clothes are #handcraftedinNY. ‘Pleats please’ was her second message, one which we’ve seen more and more at NYFW, and which was applied to midi skirts, dresses and jackets’ asymmetrical sides. It was a pretty collection of tailored pieces à la 1950s, but we say her girl was more present in the berry printed dresses, especially one mini version paired with a bright pink wool coat! – LA

2:00pm Jason Wu for Hugo Boss
Jason Wu has taken the reigns of the luxury German brand’s women’s wear collection. For his impressive debut show, the designer said he was inspired by German modernist architecture. It translated in a refined collection of sober but interesting tailoring, and an array of beautiful tea length dresses. The clothes had sobriety but also intrigue and lightness. Dresses were embroidered in Bauhaus-inspired patterns, suits had laser-cut details, shirts were quilted, and the accessories had must-have quality.

4:00pm Reed Krakoff
Easy elegance describes Reed Krakoff’s Fall collection. The wearable color palette included cobalt blue, black, white and a touch of citron, which popped in the last look. Touches of pony hair, hand-painted python and patchwork were the details that stood out. -KS

5:00pm Marchesa
Marchesa showed at the New York Public Library, matching the regal, red carpet-ready collection. In fact, seated front row were actresses Katie Holmes and Anna Kendrick, maybe calling dibs for future Oscar events? Most impressive were the fabric treatment of 3D lace tea-length dresses, and, overall, the collection was a waterfall of gorgeous embellishments like fur-entwined-knits, ostrich feather embroidered gowns, and draped asymmetrical skirts wrapped around gold thread-work bodices. – LA

5:30pm Clover Canyon
It was all about prints in the Clover Canyon presentation. Inspired by a trip to Ireland, sometimes the prints were about Celtic landscapes, sometimes with cathedral-like motifs or in geometric, colorful patterns. Dresses’ hemlines were low in straight silhouettes. Interesting details throughout the collection were embroidered lace and tulle tunics over dresses, and laser cut neoprene skirts and collars, as well as the nonchalant section of pajama looks. – LA

6:30pm Elizabeth and James
Elizabeth and James positioned models across Cooper Classic Car Gallery wearing oversized sweaters with midi skirts and carrying furry handbags, bucket bags and leather clutches. Culotte pants also appeared, paired with easy stripped blazers. A crop pinstripe top was styled over a long cotton shirt, and a maxi coat had a zipper line across the waist, for it to become a cropped jacket on warmer days. Everything seemed modern, and ready to be worn! – LA

8:00pm Proenza Schouler
The Proenza Schouler girl is yet again the coolest of the clan.
As guests arrived at show’s venue in the Meatpacking District, they entered an orange-lit white room, which gave way to the humorous, bold, energizing quality of the collection. The lights then turned white and models walked at a New York-like crazy pace to the fast beats playing. The collection was an explosion of color and shape. Rounded sleeves, and structured silhouettes ruled in colorful jacquards, crepes and heavy knits, sometimes with leather and metallic patchworks, along statement solid coats and jackets. Some prints resembled blown out fingerprints, but more than anything it was all about street culture. – LA
